Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre to Offer Dance Class, Lecture at FSU

Frostburg State University's Cultural Events Series will present two community activities in connection with the upcoming visit of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17.

The first event is a free ballet masterclass for local adults and teens Saturday, Sept. 16, in FSU's Cordts Physical Education Center Dance Studio. The class will be taught by PBT Artistic Director Terrence S. Orr. The class, designed for dancers at the early-intermediate level in ballet, will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the. Previous ballet experience is necessary. While there is no charge for the class, space is limited and early reservation is suggested. To reserve your space in the class, please contact Susan Manger at (301) 687-3163.

Community members are also encouraged to attend a pre-performance discussion with Orr Saturday, Sept. 16, from 7 to 7:30 p.m. The lecture will be in the FSU Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre. Although the event is for ticket-holders for the 8 p.m. show, those who wish to attend the discussion but are unable to attend the evening performance will be accommodated.

The PBT has donated tickets to their regular season performances in Pittsburgh, Pa., some of which will be raffled off during the pre-performance discussion. For more information, call Manger at (301) 687-3163.

Widely regarded as one the country's top-rated dance companies, PBT will perform for local audiences Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17, in the Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre. Performance times are Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $18 for the general public, $15 for FSU faculty/staff, $12 for ages 17 & younger and $2 for FSU students. For tickets, please call (301) 687-4411 Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
