Potts Named AMCC Softball Pitcher of the Week

GIBSONIA, PA - Frostburg State freshman Lori Potts (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week Monday.

The righthander picked up a pair of crucial AMCC complete-game wins, allowing just 12 hits and three runs in 14.0 innings. She struck out six and walked just one.

She also hit .500 (6-for-12) with three RBIs, a sacrifice fly, a run scored and a stolen base in FSU's 3-1 week.

In an 8-3 win over Penn State Altoona Friday, Potts scattered eight hits and gave up three runs. She also helped herself at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

Potts followed that performance with a four-hit, 1-0 shutout of defending AMCC tournament champion Pitt-Bradford Saturday.

She took a one-hitter into the sixth inning and worked out of two-on, none-out jams in both the sixth and seventh innings to post her second career shutout.

"Lori certainly came up with two outstanding efforts this weekend against teams that finished ahead of us in the conference standings last year," said FSU head coach Chris Starke. "She was nearly unhittable against Pitt-Bradford and worked out of those two tough spots as calmly as any pitcher I've seen."

Potts, who has won five of her last six decisions, is 8-4 with a 3.75 ERA this season. She is also hitting .344 (22-of-64) with four doubles, 13 runs scored and 11 RBIs.

The Bobcats (16-9 overall, 3-1 AMCC) return to action Saturday when they host Penn State Behrend in a key AMCC doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
