Rohrs Named Mideast Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year

FROSTBURG, Md. — Sophomore All-American Sumer Rohrs (Frostburg, Md./Forest) has been named as the Mideast Region’s Women's Track Athlete of the Year for the 2007 Division III indoor track and field season by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Associated.

Rohrs currently holds the nation’s fastest time (8.14) in the 55-meter hurdles this season. On the year, Rohrs has captured victory in the 55-meter hurdles at four different meets including setting the school record in the event on three occasions and setting the indoor conference record (8.14) at the Mason-Dixon Conference Indoor Championships. Rohrs also captured victory and set school record in the 60-meter hurdles (8.72) at the Bucknell Bison Open.

She will also compete at the NCAA’s in the 55-meter dash after qualifying with a season and personal best time of 7.26.

Rohrs earned All-American status after finishing sixth in the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 55-meter hurdles last year.
