Saunders Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State University has named Kendrick Saunders its assistant men's basketball coach, head coach Webb Hatch announced recently.

Saunders comes to FSU from Hunter College in New York City, where he had served as the team's top assistant since 1999. He was responsible for coordinating the team's recruiting efforts and preseason conditioning and also monitored player academics.

In addition to Hunter, Saunders was an assistant coach for the Gotham City Knights of the National Rookie League, a semi-professional basketball development league, during the summer of 2000. He was also the girls' assistant coach at Great Mills (Md.) High School for the 1998-99 season.

Saunders has also served as a counselor at several prominent camps, including Army, Seton Hall and Five Star.

"We feel Kendrick will be an excellent addition to our basketball staff," said Webb Hatch. "His professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm about the game will have a positive effect on our players and our program."

Saunders, who attended Great Mills (Md.) High School, graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic College in 1998 with a degree in history and a minor in physical education. He played point guard for the Sailfish and was a team captain his senior year.
