Seniors Lead Baseball To Come-From Behind Win Over Penn State Altoona

FROSTBURG, MD - On Senior Day, the Frostburg State Bobcats rallied from a 4-0 deficit to Penn State Altoona to win in their last at-bat, 5-4. Senior Mark Teson (Shaker/Latham, N.Y.) drove in senior Dave Sanchez (Urbana/Buckeystown, Md.) in the bottom of the seventh as the Bobcats extended their winning streak to 12 games.

FSU (28-8-1) fell behind early as sophomore starting pitcher Billye Hollister (Thomas Stone/Waldorf, Md.) gave up four runs on six hits in three innings.

However, junior Dan Sidorowicz (St. Mary's Ryken/Leonardtown, Md.) came in to relieve Hollister and shut the door on the Lions, going four strong innings and allowing only one base runner on one hit while striking out three for his fifth win of the season.

Trailing 4-0 in the second, the Bobcats put up a run on back-to-back two-out doubles by junior Eric Edelman (Sherwood/Silver Spring, Md.) and senior Bobby Farmer (Wheaton/Rockville, Md.).

FSU then added two more in the third on a two-run home run to center by junior Sean Davis (Sherwood/Olney, Md.), his second of the season.

Still trailing 4-3, the Bobcats tied the game in the fifth. Teson led off with a walk and Davis reached base after being hit by a pitch. Teson advanced to third on a wild pitch and then scored on a groundout by senior Jake Mannon (Lenape/Southampton, N.J.).

With Sidorowicz continuing to set down the Lions, the score remained tied going into the bottom of the seventh.

Leading off the final frame, Sanchez doubled down the left field line. He then advanced to third as the Bobcats tried to sacrifice him over, but a wild pitch by Lions pitcher Dave Strouse allowed Teson an opportunity to drive him in for the win.

Teson took full advantage, driving a pitch over the head of the leftfielder for the game winning RBI-single.

On the day, Teson was 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and an RBI. The two walks give Teson a school-record 95 for career and brings him closer to the single-season record of 38. He currently has 36 free passes on the season.

Today's game marked the final home contest for seniors Juan Aznar, Bobby Farmer, Pat Fortunato, John Koppel, Jake Mannon, Dave Sanchez, Jimmy Stone, Mark Teson and Tim Wilkins.

The Bobcats return to action on Monday with a single nine-inning game at Juniata beginning at 3:30 pm.
