Seyfferth Named AMCC Volleyball Player of the Week

GIBSONIA, PA - Junior Sam Seyfferth (Broadneck/Annapolis, Md.), was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her efforts in leading Frostburg State University to its sixth conference championship in the past seven years.

Seyfferth recorded 53 digs (5.9 per game) last week, including 23 (7.1) in the AMCC championship game. She paces a Bobcat defense that leads the conference with 19.21 digs per game.

Seyfferth, who was named to the 2003 All-AMCC honorable mention team, leads the conference with 4.79 digs per game. She has recorded a career-high 460 digs in 96 games (4.79 per game) this year. In her three seasons at FSU, she has accumulated 984 digs in 278 games (3.54 per game).

“Sam is our motor, she makes us go,” said Billington. “If we didn’t have her we wouldn’t be where we are. She is the most consistent player we have out there.”

For her efforts all season and in the tournament, Seyfferth was one of two libero’s in the conference to receive a selection to any of the three All-AMCC teams. This is Seyfferth’s first selection as AMCC Player of the Week, as well as her first selection to the All-AMCC team.
