Softball Prepares for Final Four of AMCC Tournament

FROSTBURG, Md. — The Frostburg State softball team is preparing for the championship round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament this weekend on the campus of Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pa.

The No. 4 seeded Bobcats play their first game of the double-elimination portion of the tournament on Friday at 12:15 pm when they face top seeded PSB.

In the second game of the championship, No. 2 seed Pitt-Bradford squares off against No. 3 seed Lake Erie at 2:45 pm. The losers from each game will meet at 5:15 pm.

FSU (24-16, 13-5 AMCC) advanced to the final four after downing No. 5 seed La Roche in two games last Saturday. The Bobcats won game one 4-3, and game two 1-0.

Senior Bethany Seyler (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) leads the squad in batting average (.352), hits (44), doubles (14), homeruns (3) and RBIs (25).

Sophomore Amanda Baldwin (Baltimore, Md./North County) is having a solid season, batting .322 with 39 hits, 30 runs scored and 16 RBIs.

From her leadoff spot, junior Amanda Griswold (Rockville, Md./Magruder) is hitting .318 with 42 hits, 23 runs scored and nine RBIs.

Senior pitcher Jen Cook (Cresaptown, Md./Allegany) ranks fifth in NCAA Division III in wins boasting a 23-6 overall record. Against AMCC opponents, she is 13-2 with a 1.47 earned run average and 139 strikeouts.
