Speaker to Mix Humor with Anti-Alcoholism Message at FSU

Comedian Bernie McGrenahan will share his stories of growing up in an alcoholic environment on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Frostburg State University Lane University Center's Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall.

A part of the Campus Activities Board (CAB) Lecture Series, this event is free and open to the public. BURG is a co-sponsor.

As a professional stand-up comedian, McGrenahan has circled the globe to make people laugh. However, nobody laughed when he was incarcerated in the Los Angeles County Jail for six months, after receiving his third "driving under the influence" violation. In this gripping and revealing program, McGrenahan speaks of his difficult childhood and family challenges.

His journey to sobriety was tough. He survived a brother's suicide caused by drug and alcohol abuse and has learned how to cope with the pressures of care-taking his mentally handicapped brother. McGrenahan shares his stories to encourage listeners to look at their own stories and learn how to deal with problems using a clear head.
