Special Education Summer Institute Planned at FSU

A special education summer institute focusing on students with emotional/behavioral disorders will be held at Frostburg State University from June 21 to 25. The institute is free and open to area teachers and the general public.

Events include a workshop on ADHD conducted by Jerry Mills, a nationally known motivational speaker; a workshop conducted by Paula Kluth on challenging behaviors associated with autism; a workshop conducted by Judith and Joseph Pauley on "Process Communication," a system useful in classroom management; forums on adapted physical education and strategies for teaching technology to diverse classrooms; and an opening panel discussion featuring educators with expertise in programming for students with emotional/behavioral disorders.

With payment of tuition, three hours of graduate credit in special education will also be available. Those interested should register through the Graduate Services Office for SPED 691 or EDUC 590 ST Emotional/Behavioral Disorders. For more details, contact Dr. Oma Gail Simmons at (301) 687-4432 or
