Speights then doubled him home with a shot down the right field line. Barone then reached on an error by the left fielder allowing Speights to score.

After the Tigers cut the deficit to 6-2 with a run in the third, Speights added an RBI to his total in the fourth doubling home Burke to give Frostburg State a 7-2 lead.

FSU extended its lead with five runs in the sixth for a 12-2 advantage. Speights knocked in his third run of the ballgame when he doubled home Mitchell for the first run of the inning. The next batter, Barone, flied out to right field scoring Gitzen. Peake and senior Todd Holmes (New Bloomfield, Pa./West Perry) then recorded back-to-back RBI doubles and the final run of the inning came when junior Joe Daddura (Fallston, Md./Calvert Hall) scored on a bases loaded walk.
