Students to Speak About National Conference at Society for Collegiate Journalists Meeting

Frostburg State University students who attended the 2012 Investigative Reporters and Editors Computer-Assisted Reporting Conference in St. Louis, Mo., will speak at the Society for Collegiate Journalists’ meeting on Monday, April 30, at 5 p.m. in Lane University Center Room 109. The event is free and open to the public.

FSU seniors Madison Martin and Sidni Giordano, both mass communications majors, and Amy Barkman, English major, will talk about their experiences at the national conference. Andrew Duncan, an assistant professor in the English Department and one of the founding co-advisors for FSU’s chapter of SCJ, will also speak at the meeting. They were able to attend the conference through an FSU Foundation Opportunity Grant supported by the FSU Annual Fund. Students at any level interested in any area of journalism or in learning more about SCJ should attend the meeting.

SCJ is the oldest national honorary collegiate journalism organization designed to serve college journalists, and the FSU chapter opened in 2011. For more information on FSU’s chapter of SCJ, contact Brittany Murray, chapter president, at or visit
