Swimming & Diving Sweeps Gallaudet

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State men's and women's swimming & diving teams swept a dual meet against Gallaudet Sunday afternoon at Bobcat Natatorium.

The men posted a 20-0 win, while the women picked up a 70-49 victory.

On the men's side, Frostburg State opened with a victory in the 200-meter medley relay (2:09.23).

Sophomore C.C. Williams (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) then won the 200-meter freestyle (2:17.55), and senior Ben Marrapodi (Forest Hill, Md./C.Milton Wright) captured both the 100-meter butterfly (1:06.25) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:10.45).

Sophomore Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) took home the 50-meter freestyle (25.31), while senior Ryan Kentrus (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) won the 100-meter freestyle (1:00.09).

Sophomore J.D. Ottey (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) closed the meet by winning the 100-meter breaststroke (1:20.51).

The Bobcat women began the afternoon by capturing the 200-meter medley relay. Freshman Amy Contino (Bridgton, N.J./Cumberland Regional), sophomore Erin Young (Newark, Del./Glasgow), sophomore Kristin Moats (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) and junior Melody Hanna (Frostburg, Md./Beall) posted a time of 2:22.53.

Moats later won the 50-meter freestyle (29.90) and finished second in the 200-meter individual medley (2:52.22).

Hanna followed by capturing the 100-meter butterfly (1:16.29), and junior Ashley Hedges (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) added victories in the 100-meter freestyle (1:13.37) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:36.52).

Freshman Megan Falls (Swesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) closed out the meet with a win in the 400-meter freestyle (5:20.85).

The Bobcats visit Bethany (W.Va.) College Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
