Swimming Drops to Randolph Macon

ASHLAND, Va. — The Frostburg State women’s swimming team dropped to Randolph Macon, 113-81, last Friday at the Brock Sports and Recreation Center.

Sophomore Shannon Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) paced the Bobcat women with two first-place finishes. She captured the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle titles with times of 5:47.50 and 11:28.85, respectively.

Senior Heather Hamor (Nanjemoy, Md./Lackey) turned in a solid performance winning the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.50) and placing second in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.27).

FSU also recorded three more second-place finishes on the afternoon. Freshman Michelle Nash (Columbia, Md./Hammond) finished the 200-yard IM in 2:35.12, sophomore Amanda Delaney (Frostburg, Md./Beall) captured second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:21.68) and the team of Nash, Delaney, sophomore Shannon Hurkett (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) and junior Megn Falls (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) finished the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:58.75.

Hurkett also captured a third-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:39.44), Nash took home third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.38) and Falls landed in third place in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:58.39.

Frostburg State returns to action Sunday when it hosts Hood.
