Swimming Stays Hot With Sweep of Marymount

ARLINGTON, VA — The Frostburg State swimming and diving teams continued their solid seasons by sweeping a dual meet from Marymount Friday afternoon.

The Bobcat men won their fourth straight dual contest, 111-86, to improve to 4-3, while the women edged the Saints, 99-97, to move to 3-4 on the year.

Freshman Heather Hamor (Nanjemoy, Md./Lackey) led the Bobcat women to their second straight victory by capturing two individual events. She won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a personal-record 11:40.81 and claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:45.67.

Hamor then teamed with sophomores Melody Hanna (Frostburg, Md./Beall) and Kim Kaiser (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and senior Jessie Bley (Ft. Washington, Md./Gwynne Park) for a win in the 400-freestyle relay in 4:05.64.

Freshman Kristin Moats (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) also won a pair of individual events, capturing the 200-yard IM in 2:19.34 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:38.82.

Hanna added a victory in the 200-yard freestyle in a personal-best time of 2:11.65.

On the men's side, freshman Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College won two individual events and was a member of FSU's winning 400-yard freestyle relay team. Williams swam to victory in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.82) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.29) and teamed with freshman Jay Ferrari (Columbia, Md./Riverhill), junior Greg Barnhart (Damascus, Md./Damascus) and junior Ryan Kentrus (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) to capture the relay in 3:30.27.

C.C. Williams (Fort Mill, S.C./Fort Mill) also captured two individual races, winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.83 and the 100-yard freestyle in 50.29 seconds.

Freshman Sean Leaman (Bethesda, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase) claimed the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:49.13, while Barnhart finished third in a personal-record time of 12:07.22.

Ferrari added a win in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.83.

The Bobcats will host Bethany (W.Va.) this Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
