Swimming Swept by Division II Salem International

SALEM, WV — The Frostburg State swimming teams were swept by Division II Salem International University Saturday afternoon. The Tiger men claimed a 111-84 victory, while the SIU women posted a 110-49 win.

Senior Kelly Ryan (Silver Spring, Md./Good Counsel) led the Bobcat men with a pair of first-place finishes. Ryan won the 50 freestyle in 22.71 and took the 100 backstroke in 57.15.

Senior Jay Garner (Germantown, Md./Damascus) won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:02.75. FSU also captured the 200 medley relay in 1:13.20.

On the women's side, junior Jessie Bley (Ft. Washington, Md./Gwynn Park) won 500 freestyle in 6:01.65 and turned in second-place finishes in both the 1,000 freestyle (12:23.03) and the 100 breaststroke (1:28.53).

Junior Siona Walsh (Twin Falls, Idaho/Bellows Free Academy, Vt.) was first in the 50 freestyle (27.42), and freshman Kim Kaiser (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:26.16.

The Bobcats will host a tri-meet with Penn State Altoona and Washington & Jefferson on Saturday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m.
