Szabo to Speak on “Mixed Drinks, Mixed Emotions: Alcohol and Mental Health” at FSU

Ross Szabo, director of youth outreach for the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign, will share his success story in overcoming his struggles with alcohol and depression in a presentation entitled “Mixed Drinks, Mixed Emotions: Alcohol and Mental Health” in the Lane University Center’s Manicur Assembly Hall on Monday, March 6, at 8 p.m.

Diagnosed with bi-polar disorder at the age of 16, Szabo has waged a battle against mental illness and its related problems ever since. His program is designed to put a face to the feelings and thoughts of those with serious mental disorders and give students the necessary tools to deal with family members or friends who exhibit symptoms of mental illness. Addressing the issues candidly, Szabo translates the technical jargon of mental illnesses, depression and suicide prevention into real-life language and examples.

Information is available through the S.A.F.E. Office at FSU by calling 301-687-4761. The performance will be free and open to the public.

FSU is committed to making all of its programs, services and activities accessible to persons with disabilities. You may request accommodations through ADA Compliance Office at 301-687-4102, TDD 301-687-7955.
