“The Vagina Monologues” Celebrates 10th Year at FSU

Frostburg State University will present Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, and Friday, Feb. 18, in the Performing Arts Center. The benefit performance is brought to FSU courtesy of the V-Day College Campaign, an organization working to end violence against women and girls, and is directed by FSU student Regina Alderton. This is the 10th year FSU has presented “The Vagina Monologues.”

Also parts of the V-Day College Campaign are the Clothesline Project that draws attention to the issue of violence against women, with a display beginning at 6:30 p.m. each evening, and the Scarves for V-Day event where handmade scarves are sold to raise funds. All proceeds from fundraising will go to the Family Crisis Resource Center, the Dove Center and the Women of Haiti, this year’s V-Day spotlight.

Educating millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it, V-Day was named one of Worth magazine’s “100 Best Charities” in 2001 and Marie Claire’s “Top 10 Charities” in 2006. The “V” in V-day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina.

Tickets to FSU’s performance of “The Vagina Monologues” are $6 for students and $12 for non-students. For reservations or information, call 301-687-7462 weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. For information about V-Day FSU events, e-mail coordinator Marina Byerly at
