Track & Field Teams Compete at Towson Open

TOWSON, MD — Both the Frostburg State men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Towson University Open Invitational last Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Junior Terrell Hayes (Rockville, Md./Wheaton) led the Bobcats with a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 133-10, while fellow junior Patrick Malone (Glen Gardner, N.J./Voorhees) was sixth in the javelin with a throw of 163-6.

In the discus, freshman Tom Ingham (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) finished seventh (118-2) and freshman James Pruitt (Stafford, Va./Stafford) was ninth (113-11).

In the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Justin Marshall (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) placed fourth (9:51.86) and freshman Matt Litts (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) was sixth (10:10.05).

Freshman Stephen Forsha (Rockville, Md./Magruder) finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run (17:03.40).

Sophomore Nick Poulos (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) ran a 12.00 in the 100-meter dash and added a 24.75 in the 200-meter dash.

Sophomore Jonas Horst (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) posted a time of 23.81 in the 200-meter dash, while freshman Stephen Jackson (Fort Washington, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) was close behind in 23.89.

Junior Brian Bonn (Glen Burnie, Md./Glen Burnie) ran the 800-meters in 2:01.05 with sophomore Calvin Kiple (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) adding a time of 2:21.96 in the same event.

Freshman Josh Dawson (Elkton, Md./North East) finished the 1,500-meters in 4:18.41.

Sophomore Laura Knight (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air), the lone Bobcat female to compete, finished fifth in the pole vault with height of 9-6.25.

FSU will host the Bobcat Last Chance Meet this Saturday at Bobcat Stadium.
