Villarreal Competes in American Cancer Society Triathlon

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State University head men's and women's swimming coach Chip Villarreal competed in the 13th Annual American Cancer Society Triathlon Sunday, May 5 at Schumaker Park in Salisbury, Md.

Villarreal placed 64th out of 389 finishers in the event which consisted of a half-mile swim, a 14.5-mile bike ride and a 3.65-mile run. He turned in the top swimming split in the 30-34 age group, posted one of the top run splits in his age group and finished ninth overall in his age group.

Villarreal raised $175 for the ACS in contributions from Frostburg State coaches and physical education faculty. The race collected over $46,000, the highest total in the event's history.
