Volleyball Comes From Behind To Defeat Penn State Behrend and Remain Unbeaten In Conference Play

Erie, PA — Frostburg State (20-9, 9-0) rallied from a two games to one deficit to beat host Penn State Behrend (12-16, 5-4),3-2, in a thrilling Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference battle Saturday afternoon.

Junior Kelli Bumgarner (Calvert/Chesapeake Beach, Md.) capped the comeback win when she had three straight kills to end the fifth and final game, and give the Bobcats a 17-15 win.

Frostburg State lost the first game 30-27, before coming back to tie the match at one game apiece with a 30-23 win in game two. The Bobcats lost game three 30-18, to set up their come from behind victory.

Game four was convincingly won by the Bobcats 30-21, to set up the dramatic five game win over the Lions.

Sophomore Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.) led the way for the Bobcats as she had 15 kills and 14 digs both team highs on the day. Senior Stacy Bureau (Richard Montgomery/Rockville, Md.) had seven service aces on the day for FSU.

Freshman Carly McDonald (Northern/Owings, Md.) had 35 assists and added 10 digs for the Bobcats, who remain perfect in AMCC play.

Frostburg State finishes its three-game road trip through the conference when it plays at second-place Pitt-Bradford, Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
