Volleyball Defeats Medaille 3-1 in Conference Opener

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Frostburg State volleyball team opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play with a 3-1 victory over Medaille College, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats (6-10) captured game one 30-25, but dropped game two 22-30. FSU then got back on track, winning games three and four by scores of 30-18.

Senior Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) had a solid afternoon with 38 assists, four blocks and two service aces.

Freshman Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led the team with 22 kills and 10 digs while teammate Caryn Wright (Pikesville, Md./Western Tech) had 10 kills. The tandem also combined to post five total blocks.

Sophomore Jenny Wheaton (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) had 13 digs and 2 service aces and freshman Samantha Quirin (Lovettsville, Va./Loudoun Valley) rounded out the Bobcat performance with 10 digs.

FSU returns to action on Septemeber 26, when they travel to Washington, D.C. to play Catholic at 7:00 pm.
