Volleyball Dominates in Victory Over Lake Erie

FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State remained perfect in its last 22 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matches as the Bobcats defeated Lake Erie College, 3-0 Saturday Afternoon. FSU is currently on a five-match winning streak and has won 19 out of its last 20 matches, losing only to Division II Pitt-Johnstown in that stretch.

Frostburg State (22-3, 8-0) dominated in every game as it won 30-8, 30-11, 30-8 over the Storm. In the first game the Bobcats were led by freshman Lauren Weller (Gaithersburg/Gaithersburg, Md.) who served FSU from a 7-4 lead to a 19-4 advantage.

In game two, the Bobcats led 13-4 when freshman Alana Boyle (Loudoun Valley/Purcellville, Va.) served up three aces on the way to leading FSU to another 19-4 advantage. In the third and final game, Frostburg State used a full team effort to close out the Storm 30-8.

Boyle led the Bobcats with who had a team high 15 kills, three services aces and three solo blocks. Sophomore Kimberly Embrey (Liberty/Sumerduck, Va.) added 10 kills, Weller had seven kills, and freshman Amanda Hernandez (Arundel/Crofton, Md.) recorded 31 assists.

As a team the Bobcats recorded 14 service aces.

The Bobcats will look to continue their winning streaks as they host both Penn State Behrend and Christopher Newport on Sunday, October 19th at 11:00 am and 3:00 p.m. respectively.
