Volleyball Falls to Pitt-Bradford in Five, Snapping 47-Match Conference Winning Streak

Bradford, Pa. ... Pitt-Bradford rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Frostburg State, 3-2, Monday night, snapping the Bobcats' streak of 47 consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victories dating back over five seasons.

Frostburg State dropped a 3-0 decision to Penn State Behrend in its first-ever AMCC match on September 3, 1997 before going on its remarkable tear.

Counting conference tournaments, the Bobcats had won 54 straight matches against league opponents, the second-longest winning streak in Division III entering Monday night's contest.

The Bobcats (2-4 overall, 1-1 AMCC) began with a 31-29 win in game one before the Panthers took a 30-26 victory in the second game. FSU then captured an exciting game three, 30-28, but Pitt-Bradford tied the match with a 30-24 win in game four.

The Panthers (3-4, 1-1) completed the come-from-behind win with a 15-12 decision in the fifth game.

Freshman Lauren Petrick (Denton, Md./North Caroline), who was named the AMCC Volleyball Athlete of the Week on Monday, led the Bobcats with a career-high 18 kills and nine digs, while fellow freshman Carrie Ness (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) added a career-high 49 assists.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday in a tri-match at Randolph-Macon College. FSU will face Guilford at 4:00 p.m. before facing Randolph-Macon at 6:00 p.m.
