Volleyball Splits Tri-match at Rowan University

Frostburg State swept Gwynedd-Mercy 3-0 in the second match of the day, to salvage a split on Saturday at Rowan University.

The Bobcats opened the match against Gwynedd-Mercy with a 30-27 victory, and followed that up with 30-15 and 30-27 match scores to get their fourth victory on the young season.

Senior Stacy Bureau (Richard Montgomery/Rockville, Md.) led the way for the Bobcats with 16 kills, five digs and three service aces, while freshman Carly McDonald (Northern/Owings, Md.) added eight aces and seven kills in the win for Frostburg State.

In the first match of the day, Frostburg State lost in three straight games to Rowan University, 30-24, 30-16 and 35-33.

Sophomore Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.) led the Bobcats in the opener with 17 kills.

Sophomore Carrie Ness (Francis Scott Key/Taneytown, Md.) had a solid day for Frostburg State as she led the team in assists in both games for a total of 71 on the day.

The Bobcats are now 4-2 on the season, and return to action on Tuesday when they visit Division II Shepherd College at 6:30 p.m.
