Volleyball to Host AMCC Tournament This Weekend

Frostburg, MD — Frostburg State will host the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference volleyball tournament on Friday and Saturday at Bobcat Arena.

The Bobcats, 23-9 overall, earned the right to host the tournament with an unbeaten conference record at 12-0. This is the fourth season in the past five that FSU has been undefeated in AMCC play. The Bobcats will look to take their fifth conference championship in the six-year history of the AMCC.

Frostburg State will be the #1 seed and play #4 Penn State Altoona at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The other action that night will see #2 Penn State Behrend take on #3 Pitt-Bradford at 6:00 p.m. The two winners will face each other in the championship game on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Frostburg State has been led on the season by sophomore Lauren Petrick (North Caroline/Denton, Md.) who has 388 kills and 79 service aces, both team-highs. Fellow classmate Carrie Ness (Francis Scott Key/Taneytown, Md.) is pacing the Bobcats with 978 assists on the season, to lead the AMCC with a 10.5 per game average.

Junior Kelli Bumgarner (Clavert/Chesapeake Beach, Md.) has added 308 kills, while sophomore Sam Seyfferth (Broadneck/Annapolis, Md.) is leading the team in digs with 268 on the season.
