Volleyball to Take On Pitt-Bradford in First-Place Showdown at Fort Hill

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will square off in a showdown of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's top two teams on Saturday at Fort Hill High School beginning at 7:00 pm.

The Bobcats, currently 14-3 overall and 4-0 in the AMCC, are riding a league-best nine-match winning streak and have already equalled their victory total from a year ago.

FSU leads the league in kills (12.8 kpg), assists (11.39 apg), service aces (3.32 sapg) and blocks (1.79 bpg).

The Panthers (7-5, 4-0) have won four in a row after sweeping defending league champion Penn State Behrend Tuesday night.

UPB tops the AMCC in hitting percentage (.286) and ranks second in both kills (12.23 kpg) and assists (10.67 apg).

FSU looks to avenge last year's 3-2 (31-29, 26-30, 30-28, 24-30, 12-15) loss to the Panthers that snapped the Bobcats' 47-match AMCC winning streak dating back to 1997.

"We're very excited to be playing such an important match at Fort Hill," said FSU second-year head coach Jeff Billington, whose squad will play two games at the highly competitive Juniata (Pa.) Tournament Saturday morning before returning home for the Pitt-Bradford contest. "I'm sure our supportive fans from the Cumberland and surrounding areas will be treated to a high caliber of volleyball."

There will be an admission fee that will go entirely to support the Fort Hill volleyball program.
