Volleyball Tops La Roche

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Frostburg State volleyball team got back on the winning track Tuesday evening, with a 3-0 sweep of La Roche at the Kerr Fitness and Sports Center.

FSU improves to 9-15 overall and 4-0 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. With the win, the Bobcats move into a three-way tie for first place in the league with Penn State Behrend and Penn State Altoona. With the loss, LAR is now 0-15 overall and 0-5 in the league.

Frostburg State won the three-game series by the scores of 30-14, 30-20 and 30-18.

Freshman Brooke Winterling (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) led the team with 11 kills to go along with a pair of blocks and a pair aces and classmate Chelsea Wassell (Westernport, Md./Southern Garrett) recorded six kills

Senior Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) had a solid outing with 20 assists, five kills and three aces. Sophomore Jennifer Wheaton (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) posted six digs and four aces while freshman setter Joanna Murray (Bowie, Md./Bowie) contributed with four assists.

The Bobcats are back in action on Saturday for a trimatch with Penn State Behrend and Dickinson in Erie, Pa.
