Volleyball Wins One of Three on Second Day of Bison Invitational

WASHINGTON, DC — The Frostburg State women's volleyball team won one of its three matches on the second day of the Gallaudet University Bison Invitational Tournament Saturday.

The Bobcats (9-12) began the day with a 30-27, 30-21, 30-23 sweep of Chowan.

Junior Stacy Bureau (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) led the way with 12 kills and 13 digs, while junior Marjorie Loggie (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) added 10 kills.

Freshman Sam Seyfferth (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) recorded 33 assists.

Frostburg State looked to continue its momentum against Marymount, taking the opening game, 30-28. However, the Saints won the next three games, 30-15, 30-20 and 31-29 to record the victory.

Freshman Lauren Petrick (Denton, Md./North Caroline) had a team-high 10 kills, while Bureau posted eight kills and 10 digs. Seyyferth added 29 assists.

The Bobcats then closed out the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Catholic University. Game scores were 30-13, 30-11 and 30-26.

Seyfferth had 11 assists, while freshman April Caprarola (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) recorded nine digs.

Frostburg State returns to action on Monday when it visits La Roche at 7:00 p.m.
