Wieland Named NSCAA Scholar-Athlete

Frostburg, Md. ... Frostburg State's Jonathan Wieland has been named to the 2000 NSCAA Scholar-Athlete South Region Second Team in a recent announcement by the organization.

Wieland, a junior defender from Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Va., boasts a 3.50 grade point average in psychology. He started all 20 games for the Bobcats, recording six goals, six assists and 18 points to rank third on the team in all three categories.

Frostburg State finished 16-5 overall and won their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship in the last three years. The Bobcats advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 1983 and defeated Bethany (W.Va.), 2-1, in the first round before falling to Washington & Lee, 4-1, in the South Region Semifinals.
