FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State junior forward Jon Wieland (Woodbridge, Va./Hylton) has been named to the 2001 NSCAA/adidas Men's Soccer Scholar All-America Team.

A second-team Scholar All-America selection, Wieland led the Bobcats to a 12-7-1 record and a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Region Tournament after setting career high's with nine goals, 14 assists and 32 points.

In the classroom, he holds a 3.4 GPA as a double major in psychology and sociology.

Wieland, who also earned first-team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and third-team NSCAA/adidas Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors, notched eight goals in FSU's final 10 games after being moved from defender to forward.

He set a Bobcat single-game record with five assists in a 5-1 win over Washington & Jefferson October 17, and he took home three of the final four AMCC Player of the Week awards.

Frostburg State also captured its fifth straight AMCC regular-season title and its second consecutive AMCC Tournament championship.
