Williams Finishes Season at ECAC Championships

FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State junior Chris Williams (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) completed his season at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Open Swimming & Diving Championships held this past weekend at the University of Pittsburgh’s Trees Pool.

Friday, Williams finished 32nd in the preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.09. He beat several swimmers from Division I schools.

Williams then finished 46th in the preliminaries of the 100-yard butterfly in 56.03 Saturday.

Sunday, he placed 55th in the preliminaries of the 100-yard freestyle in 49.77.

Williams enjoyed an excellent season overall, setting a school record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.44 February 12 at the Grove City Invitational. He broke the former mark of 21.60 set by John Crocker in 1993.

His times of 53.83 in the 100-yard butterfly and 47.47 in the 100-yard freestyle earlier this season are the third-fastest in school history.
