Women's Basketball Beats Medaille

BUFFALO, NY — Senior Tracey Little (LaVale, Md./Allegany) posted her eighth double-double of the year as she scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Frostburg State to a 69-64 win over Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference newcomer Medaille Saturday evening.

Medaille would take it’s last lead of the game, 42-41, at 11:38 on a jumper by Amanda Baker. Over the next two minutes, the Bobcats (9-4, 6-0 AMCC) scored seven straight points ending on a jumper by redshirt-freshman Amanda Hernandez (Crofton, Md./Arundel) to take a 48-42 lead.

FSU would then take its largest lead of the game, 60-50, on two three-pointers from Hernandez and four points from Little with just under five minutes to play.

Medaille (7-7, 2-3 AMCC) would make a late-game charge starting at the 2:17 mark when Baker converted two free throws sparking a 10-1 run to bring it within one point, 65-64. Sophomore Krystin Hargrove (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) sank two free throws with 11 seconds remaining and classmate Tracie George (Windber, Pa./Windber) sealed the game making two more from the charity stripe for the Bobcats. Medaille would take its biggest lead of five, 28-23, on a basket by Rachel Conti. The Bobcats would get a three-pointer with 51 seconds remaining from Hernandez to send the game into the locker room, 28-26.

Hernandez dropped in 18 points and Hargrove scored 12. The Mavericks were led by 20 points from Marisa Clark and 14 rebounds from Baker.

The Bobcats return to action on Tuesday January, 18 when they host Pen State Altoona at 6:00 pm.
