Women's Basketball Bows to Gettysburg

ARLINGTON, VA — Jay Hodge scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Gettysburg blew open a close game by outscoring Frostburg State, 42-13, in the second half as the Bullets dumped the Bobcats, 73-38, in the second round of the Marymount Tip-Off Classic Saturday morning at Verizon Sports Arena.

In almost an exact copy of its season-opening 71-47 loss to King's Friday night, Frostburg State trailed by single-digits at the half before frigid shooting after intermission led to a big loss.

The Bobcats (0-2) were down, 31-25, to Gettysburg at the break, despite hitting just 6-of-24 from the field in the opening stanza. FSU stayed close from the free throw line, where they sank 12-of-23 attempts.

In the second half, the Bobcats shot a woeful 2-of-18 (11.1 percent) from the field, while Gettysburg was a blistering 18-of-33 (54.5 percent).

Emily Falk and Steph Drevna also added 14 points each for Gettyburg, which held a decisive 53-36 rebouding advantage.

Senior Kesha Frisby (Clinton, Md./Oxon Hill) led the Bobcats with 10 points, while junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) had seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Frostburg State concludes play in the Marymount Classic tomorrow and will face either Elizabethtown or North Carolina Wesleyan at 9 a.m.
