Women's Basketball Fall to Host Bethany in Consolation of Holiday Tournament

BETHANY, WV — Kelley Richardson scored a game-high 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and three other Bethany players scored in double figures as the Bison downed Frostburg State, 96-57, in the consolation game of the Bethany Holiday Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Another poor first-half shooting performance sent the Bobcats to a large halftime deficit. FSU sank just 8-of-27 (29.6 percent) from the field in the opening stanza and trailed, 45-22, at the break.

Frostburg State (0-7) came out stronger in the second half, shooting 41.2 percent (14-of-34) and closing to within 10 points early in the period.

However, the Bobcats hurt themselves with rebounding and foul shooting. FSU hit just 9-of-19 from the free throw line and was outrebounded by a 46-27 margin.

Junior Kim Faust (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) led the Bobcats with 16 points, 10 rebounds and four steals, while fellow junior Holly Myers (York, Pa./West York) added a season-high 15 points.

Junior Jonee Jones (McConnellsburg, Pa./McConnellsburg (Potomac State)) posted a career-high 10 points.

Bethany (5-1) was a scorching 56.3 percent (36-of-64) from the field. Nikki Babik added 18 points for the Bison, while Katie Resanovich and Katie Hardie had 16 and 14 points, respectively.

The Bobcats return to action on Wednesday when they visit Villa Julie for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
