Women's Basketball Falls to Medaille, 78-65

FROSTBURG, MD — Despite having three players score in double figures, Frostburg State could not overcome Medaille’s 78-65 victory in women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.

The Bobcats fell to 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, while the Mavericks improved to 10-1 and 5-0 in the AMCC.

FSU took an early 10-4 lead four minutes into play off a layup from senior Kenya Broadnax (Jessup, Md./Howard). MC came within 32-30 off a layup from Brenlyn Campbell with 3:03 left in the first half. The Bobcats lead 38-34 at the break.

In the second half of action, Medaille went on to outscore Frostburg State 44-27 on 16-for-28 from the floor and a perfect 4-for-4 from three-point range.

Freshman Caryn Wright (Baltimore, Md./Western Tech) paced the Bobcats with 20 points. Junior Tracie George (Windber, Pa./Windber) and classmate Krystin Hargrove (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) added 11 and 10 points respectively. Senior Stephanie Watts (Baltimore, Md./North County) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and added six assists.

Campbell and Carissa Ferrucci lead the Mavericks with 18 points apiece. Amanda Baker was the only player with a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Amanda Walling added 14 points.

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, January 17 as they travel to Penn State Altoona for an AMCC game beginning at 6:00 pm.
