Women's Cross Country Fall Short in AMCC Title Defense

BEAVER, FALLS, PA - The Frostburg State women's cross country team came up shy in defending their AMCC title, finishing second behind Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon in Beaver Falls, Pa.

The Lions scored 16 points, while FSU posted 55 points.

Junior Inga Olsen (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) earned All-AMCC honors for the third straight year with her fifth-place finish in 22:25.

Sophomores Beth Sauder (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) and Katy Eads (West Point, Iowa/Central Lee) also took home All-Conference accolades by placing eighth and ninth, respectively. Sauder turned in a time of 23:15, while Eads finished in 23:38.

Sophomore Julie Hoffman (Parkton, Md./Parkton) was 13th in 24:43, and junior Serena Wheeler (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler) was 25th in 36:19.

Penn State Behrend sophomore Jessica Knapp won the women's title in 21:21 and was named MVP.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, November 10 in the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
