Women's Lacrosse Defeats Ohio Wesleyan, 17-8

Delaware, Ohio - Frostburg State (10-4) scored six consecutive goals in the first half and never looked back as they defeated host Ohio Wesleyan, 17-8, Wednesday afternoon. The 10 wins on the season is the most for the Bobcat program since 1992, when they were 14-3.

Sophomore Kelley Duncan (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) gave the Bobcats the lead for good when she scored in the eighth minute to take the lead 2-1. After a Battling Bishops (7-6) goal made the score 3-2, Duncan, who finished with four goals on the day, scored consecutive goals to start the six goal barrage in the first half.

Junior Page Macey (Linthicum, Md./North County) then scored the first of her team-high six goals on the day in the 14th minute to give FSU a 6-2 lead. Sophomore Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) followed with her second tally of the day and freshman Ashley Mattison (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) finished the scoring in the first half when she scored in the 27th minute to give the Bobcats a 9-3 halftime lead.

Macey then scored the first four goals of the second half for Frostburg State, the last off an assist from junior Caitlin Howley (Damascus, Md./Damascus) to take a 13-5 lead. Howley would then score the second of her two goals in the 55th minute.

Senior Amanda Skilling (Church Hill, Md./Queen Anne's County) would finish the Bobcat scoring when she scored her first career goal in the 59th minute.

Senior goalie Sarah Shockley (Fallston, Md./Fallston) made 15 saves in 55 minutes to pick up the win.

Ohio Wesleyan was led on the day by Ashley Beam and Paula Breen who each had two goals.

Frostburg State returns to action Saturday when it hosts St. Mary's at 3:00 p.m.
