Women's Lacrosse Loses Contest to Villa Julie

FROSTBURG, MD. — Frostburg State and Villa Julie finished the first half in a 5-5 tie, but in the second stanza, the Mustangs leveraged the scoring abilities of senior Heather Valunas to slip past FSU 12-10.

The Bobcats (6-7) were paced by sophomore Page Macey (North County/Linthicum, Md.) in the first half as she found the net once and added three assists that powered goals by freshmen Caitlin Howley (Damascus/Damascus, Md.) and Stefanie Ritz (C. Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.) and senior Andrea Duffy (Liverpool/Liverpool, N.Y.).

Also adding a first-half goal for the Bobcats was freshman Kelley Duncan (C.Milton Wright/Bel Air, Md.).

Macey scored four of FSU's five second-half goals and added another assist, but three Valunas goals and four more scattered tallies from the Mustangs kept the Bobcats from pulling ahead.

Freshman Kate Nicol (Glenelg/Mt. Airy, Md.) also added a second-half goal, but the Red and Black dropped the contest 10-12.

Junior Sarah Shockley (Fallston/Fallston, Md.) had 16 saves on the day.

Frostburg State closes out its season when it returns to action on Saturday, May 3rd when it visits St. Mary's (Md.) for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
