Women's Soccer Ends Season With Loss at Christopher Newport in NCAA Second Round

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Frostburg State fell to Christopher Newport 2-1 in the second round of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament Saturday evening.

The Lady Captains (15-3-3) advance to the round of 16 where they will take on Lynchburg.

The Bobcats finish their season with a 14-3-3 record.

Emily Renkin put CNU on top in the 15th minute off a nice feed from Leigh Leavitt.

Senior Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast) then tied the game in the 50th minute. Junior Beth Hlebasko (New Market, Md./Linganore) sent a free kick from midfield toward the goal, and Kotofski collected the ball and sent it past Lady Captain keeper Lindsay Naill.

Nikki Greenberg scored the game-winner on a header from 12 yards out in the 66th minute. Leavitt recorded her second assist of the game.

The Bobcats had a chance to tie the contest in the last minute of play, but a shot by senior Becky Rambo (Freeland, Md./Hereford) was just inches wide of the net.

CNU outshot Frostburg State 11-5.

Senior goalie Kelly Jones (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) had three saves for the Bobcats. Naill had two saves for the Lady Captains.
