Women's Soccer Falls to Allegheny 2-1 In Overtime

MEADVILLE, Pa. — Ashley Hughes scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead Allegheny to a 2-1 win over Frostburg State, Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats fall to 1-4 overall on the year while Allegheny improved to 4-2.

AC scored first when Ashley Hughes found the back of the net off an assist from Meghan Borden at the start of the second half.

Freshman Amanda Drake (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) evened the score a little over one minute later when she scored an unassisted goal, her second of the season.

The Bobcats had their best chance to take the lead when senior Lindsay Hoffman (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) was saved by Gator keeper Michelle Welker

In the end, Allegheny proved to be too much as Hughes’ second goal of the day gave the hosts the win in overtime.

AC held the advantage in shots, 29-5, including17-2 in the second half.

SophomoreMolly Whyte (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) made thirteen saves in a losing effort while Welker stopped three shots.

The Bobcats return to action on September 20 when they travel to play No.14 ranked Johns Hopkins at 7:00 pm.
