Women’s Soccer Players Honored with All-Conference Selections

FROSTBURG, MD — Following Frostburg State's second straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title victory over La Roche this past Saturday, the AMCC announced its selections for the all-conference first, second and honorable mention teams. Eight Bobcats were selected to the various teams with sophomore Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, MD) leading the way, as FSU's only first team selection.

During the regular season Kotofski led the Bobcats in goals (16), points (34), points per game (2.13), game winning goals (4) and shots (73), despite missing the team’s first five matches. In the AMCC, Kotofski ranks second in points per game, second in game winning goals, third in goals scored and fifth in points playing in only 16 of FSU's 21 games.

Frostburg State is also represented on the All-AMCC second team by sophomore Becky Rambo (Hereford/Freeland, MD) and freshman Beth Hlebasko (Linganore/New Market, MD).

Rambo was voted AMCC Player of the Week in the final week of the Bobcat's regular season as she provided the assist on the only goal scored in the upset win over Carnegie Mellon, and then she scored the game-winner in the regular-season finally against Penn State Behrend.

Hlebasko was a defensive selection as she helped the Bobcat's lead the AMCC in fewest goals allowed at 1.25 per game. She also provided FSU with some needed scoring as she netted two goals and served an assist on the season.

The All-AMCC honorable mention team included junior goalkeeper Stephanie Zych (Guilderland/Slingerlands, NY), who ranked second in the AMCC with a 1.31 goals against average, sophomores Alyse Reed (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill, NJ), who had two goals and four assists on the season, and Erika Neuser (Fallston/Forest Hill, MD) who was second on the team with eight goals and 22 points. Filling out the honorable mention team were freshmen Jodie Gittleson (Wooten/Rockville, MD), who scored three goals including the only goal in the 1-0 upset over Carnegie Mellon, and Teri Galt (Good Counsel/Silver Spring, MD), who started all 21 games on defense.
