Women's Soccer Pounds Lake Erie Behind Kotofski's Second Straight Hat Trick

Frostburg, MD — Freshman Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./North East) recorded a hat trick for the second straight game and added an assist to power Frostburg State past visiting Lake Erie College, 11-0, in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats, who tied a school record for goals in a game set against Chatham and Lake Erie during the 1997 season, opened the scoring just 2:50 into the game when freshman Erika Neuser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston) tapped in a perfect cross from senior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco).

Kotofski posted her first goal of the afternoon just over two minutes later, and junior Tiffany Parker (Pasadena, Md./North East) gave the Bobcats a 3-0 lead in the 21st minute when she took a pass from Kotofski and poked the ball through the legs of Storm goalie Tracy Dolense.

Parker notched her second goal of the game off an assist from freshman Becky Rambo (Freeland, Md./Hereford) at the 18:54 mark, and Rambo found the net for her first collegiate goal just 1:40 left in the opening half to give FSU a 5-0 lead at the break.

Kotofski blasted a shot from 25 yards out with 32:56 left in game, and Rambo got her second goal of the day four minutes later when she stole the ball inside the 18-yard mark, dribbled through the defense and rolled a shot into the right corner of the net to give the Bobcats a 7-0 bulge.

Freshman Alana Timulak (Boswell, Pa./North Star) added her first career goal in the 71st minute before Kotofski notched her eighth goal in FSU’s last four contests with 13:40 left on the clock.

Freshman Lynnea Finch (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) scored the first goal of her collegiate career with 1:15 remaining, and sophomore Jackie Curry (Waldorf, Md./McDonough) capped the blowout with just five seconds left.

Sophomore Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, Pa./Guilderland) made three saves for her fifth shutout of the season. The Bobcats held a 23-4 advantage in shots.

Frostburg State returns to action on Sunday at Villa Julie beginning at 2:00 p.m.
