Women's Soccer Shuts Out La Roche in AMCC Semifinals

FROSTBURG, MD — Junior Lindsay Hoffman (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson (ETSU)) netted a goal and added three assists to lift the Frostburg State women’s soccer team to a 4-0 win over La Roche in the semifinal round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament Wednesday afternoon.

The Bobcats improved to 11-5-2 overall and -the Redhawks fell to 13-3-2.

The first goal came just 41 seconds into play when Hoffman passed the ball to senior Micaela Karinshak (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) who tapped it past LRC goalie Amanda Staub.

Hoffman scored in the 40th minute with an unassisted goal to put FSU ahead 2-0 at intermission.

Junior Danielle Carter (Rockville, Md./Rockville) opened the second half with a goal in the 47th minute off a pass from Hoffman. Freshman Tricia Richardson (Gibson Island, Md./St. Mary's) capped the scoring in the 62nd minute, where Hoffman recorded her third assist of the day.

Sophomore goalie Molly Whyte (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) played the first 85:52, while freshman Kala Barnes (Baltimore, Md./Southern) played the remaining 4:08. Both goalies earned a save apiece in the combined shutout.

Frostburg State returns to action Saturday as it hosts No. 2 Penn State Behrend for the AMCC Tournament Championships beginning at 2:00 pm.
