Women's Soccer to Face La Roche on Friday in AMCC Semifinals

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State women's soccer team will take on La Roche College in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Penn State Behrend College in Erie, Pa.

The Bobcats, who bring 15-4 overall and 5-1 league records into the tournament as the No. 2 seed, defeated third-seeded La Roche, 3-1, during the regular season.

FSU received goals from senior Amy Foote (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco) and freshmen Karen Kotofski (Glen Burnie, Md./Northeast) and Erika Neuser (Forest Hill, Md./Fallston), while sophomore Stephanie Zych (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) made six saves.

However, Frostburg State will face the Redhawks tomorrow without Foote, who received a red card in a 3-2 loss to top-seed and host Penn State Behrend in the regular-season finale for both squads last Saturday.

Foote, the school's all-time leader with 47 goals and 115 points, is second on the team this year with 16 goals and 40 points.

The Bobcats will certainly look to Kotofski, a strong candidate for AMCC Rookie of the Year honors, for continued production in Foote's absence. Kotofski leads FSU with 18 goals and 43 points, and she ranks second on the squad with seven assists.

Junior Tiffany Parker (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) has 13 goals and 30 points, while Neuser has five goals and six assists for 16 points.

Zych has enjoyed a stellar season in net, setting a single-season school mark with 15 wins. She also has nine shutouts and boasts a 1.03 goals against average and a .860 save percentage.

Penn State Behrend (9-9-1, 6-0 AMCC), which has won all four previous AMCC titles, will face fourth-seeded Pitt-Bradford (7-10, 3-3) in tomorrow's first semifinal at noon.

The championship game is set for Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
