Women's Soccer Wins Thriller in Double Overtime, 2-1, Versus Pitt-Greensburg

Frostburg, MD — Junior Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, Md.) scored a goal in the 105th minute off an assist from classmate Aimee Sprague (Yarmouth/Yarmouth, Mass.), to end double-overtime and keep the Bobcats perfect in the Allegeny Mountain Collegiate Conference at 5-0.

Pitt-Greensburg (10-6-1, 3-2-1) dominated most of the first half taking five shots and forcing senior goalie Stephanie Zych (Guilderland/Slingerlands, N.Y.) to make all of her five saves on the day in the half, keeping the game scoreless.

Frostburg State (10-4, 5-0) came out in the second half and controlled play, getting 13 shots on UPG goalie Torey Auld. The Red and Black finally got one by her in the 70th minute when Sprague floated a 35-yd. shot over her head to take a 1-0 lead.

FSU couldn't hold on to the lead though as Pitt-Greensburg scored with just 27 seconds left on the clock, when Stephanie Parzyck deflected a shot past Zych to tie the score and send it to overtime.

Today's win guarantees that the Bobcats will host a first-round AMCC tournament game on November 4th, against a to be determined opponent.

The Bobcats will return to action tomorrow when they host Westminster College at 3:00 p.m.
