Women's Tennis Bested by Bethany

BETHANY, W.VA. - Frostburg State dropped its match Wednesday afternoon to host Bethany (W.Va.), 6-3.

The number one doubles team of senior Kirsten Getz (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) and senior Christina Bleivik (Bartlett/Anchorage, Alaska) tallied FSU's lone point in doubles and their sixth win of the season, besting Katie Navarra and Beth Wichrowski, 8-5.

At second doubles, senior Aimee Mendoza (Great Mills/Lexington Park, Md.) and junior Kierstin Elia (Patuxent/Lusby, Md.) were beaten by Hillary Norman and Lindsay Caprareese, 8-3, while junior Susan Adkins (Archbishop Spaulding/Severn, Md.) and sophomore Sandy Nagabhushan (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) fell at the third spot to Carissa Moore and Tessa Wegner, 8-3.

In singles play, Getz notched her record to 6-4 on the season, defeating Navarra 7-6,0-6, and (7-3) in the third-set tiebreaker.

Bleivik dropped her duel at the second spot to Norman, 6-3,6-0, while Mendoza fell at third singles to Wichrowski, 6-3,6-2.

Elia was bested at fourth singles by Caprareese, 6-3,6-2 and Nagabhushan lost at the fifth position, 6-3,6-2.

At sixth singles, Adkins picked up her second win of the season, defeating Moore, 6-1,6-1.

The Bobcats (4-8) (1-2 AMCC) return to action Saturday, Sept. 27, when they host AMCC opponent Penn State Behrend at 10:00 a.m.
