Women's Tennis Blanked by Shepherd in Season-Finale

SHENANDOAH JUNCTION, WV — Frostburg State concluded its season with a 9-0 loss to Division II Shepherd (W.Va.) College Tuesday afternoon at Jefferson High School.

The Bobcats, who finished the year with a 7-6 overall record, traveled with just three players and forfeited three singles flights and two doubles contests. Shepherd wrapped up its season at 6-9.

Frostburg State freshman Kirsten Getz (Frostburg, Md./Beall), who was voted the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Newcomer of the Year at this past weekend's AMCC Tournament, suffered her first collegiate singles loss, falling to Katie Benisek, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 1 flight to finish the year with a 12-1 mark.

Bobcat freshman Amber Geiger (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) fell to Naoko Mito, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 4 flight, and fellow freshman Rachael Sooy (Crofton, Md./Arundel) dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Kristen Charles at the sixth spot.

Getz and Sooy lost to Leigh Burch and Jamie Cutright, 8-2, at the No. 1 doubles flight.
