Women's Tennis Drops Contest to Chatham

PITTSBURGH, PA — Frostburg State dropped a close 5-4 duel to host and AMCC opponent Chatham on Wednesday afternoon.

The number one doubles pairing of senior Kirsten Getz (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) and senior Christina Bleivik (Bartlett/Anchorage, Alaska) tallied their fourth win of the season, defeating Miller and Rosso, 8-3.

At second doubles, senior Aimee Mendoza (Great Mills/Lexington Park, Md.) and junior Susan Adkins (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spaulding) dropped their match to Willard and Steward, 8-1. Chatham forfeited its match at third doubles.

At number one singles, Getz lost to Miller, 6-3,6-4, while Bleivik picked up her fifth win on the season, besting Willard with a convincing 6-0, 6-3. Freshman Kierstin Elia (Patuxent/Lusby, Md.) dropped her match at the third spot, losing to Rosso 6-4, 6-3, while sophomore Sandy Nagabhushan (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) dropped her contest at fourth singles to Steward in a close 7-5, 6-4 decision.

At fifth singles, senior Dawn Zimmerman (Frederick/Linganore, Md.) lost a tough three-setter to Baker, 6-3,3-6,6-3. Chatham forfeited its match at sixth singles.

Weather permitting, the Bobcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 19, when they face host Washington & Jefferson at 4:00 pm.
