Women’s Tennis Dumps La Roche For First AMCC Victory

FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State dumped visiting La Roche, 8-1, to earn both its first win and first AMCC victory of the season Tuesday afternoon. The Bobcats snapped their eight-match losing streak to open the year.

Sophomore Kirsten Getz (Beall/Frostburg, Md.) got things started with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to improve her career record against AMCC opponents to 11-0.

Freshman Jennifer Zviman (Aberdeen/Aberdeen, Md.) came is just short in her attempt for her first career win, dropping a tough 1-6, 6-4, 6-7 match at the No. 2 flight. <> However, Getz and Zviman were able to get revenge and take the top doubles match, 8-2.

Sophomore Susan Adkins (Archbishop Spalding/Millersville, Md.) and junior Aimee Mendoza (Great Mills/Frostburg, Md.) won their singles matches in straight sets and also picked up their first doubles win of the season.

Junior Rachel Sooy (Arundel/Crofton, Md.) turned in a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at No. 5 singles.

Freshman Ewelina Blachewicz (Patterson/Baltimore, Md.) won by forfeit at No. 6 singles, and Sooy and Blachewicz were also forfeit winner at the third doubles spot.
