Women's Tennis Earns First Win of Season Against Chatham

FROSTBURG, MD — The Frostburg State women’s tennis team defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Chatham 7-2 to earn its first win of the season Monday afternoon at the Harold J. Cordts Tennis Courts.

The Bobcats improved to 1-13 overall and 1-3 in the AMCC, while the Cougars fell to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Sophomore Jenn Tolbert (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and freshman Reiden Dare (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) picked up their second win of the season at No. 1 doubles over Beth Wolensky and Sarah Steward with a score of 8-4.

Freshmen Abby Wittenberg (California, Md./Leonardtown) and Amy Wittenberg (California, Md./Leonardtown) defeated Erin Spangler and Vanessa Close 8-6 at the No. 2 spot.

In singles action, Dare, Tolbert and Abby Wittenberg earned wins at No.1, No. 2 and No. 4, respectively.

The Bobcats also picked up forfeit wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.

Frostburg State returns to action Wednesday as it travels to Penn State Altoona for a conference match beginning at 3:30 pm.
